Here's another JEP experiment.. especially for Laramie who asked me how many colors of JEP I was planning to buy. LOL! I told her one for each color family.. but then got to thinking, what happens if I did layer one color over a contrasting one...
So I chose one of my fav neutrals - TSS Moonlight Whimsey - and layered it over JEP Pacific (a medium blue). Here's the result
NYX JEP Pacific - whole lid
TSS Moonlight Whimsey - whole eye
TSS Twisted Physic - wet lined
You don't see the Pacific color showing through at all.. but you can kinda tell in the upper pic that there's more intense e/s on the lid than on the area above the crease.
So conclusion, you don't really have to buy JEP in multiple colors? with a little bit more e/s, you can cover up the base color.. but then I may be wrong.. need to buy more and play more... bwahahaha
thoughts anyone?
Kk... so really on a m/u roll here again. Pretty simple look today. Main reason was just to try out my new NYX jumbo eye pencils (JEP).
NYX JEP Oyster - whole lid
TSS Pinch of Magic - inner lid and highlight
TSS Risky Behaviour - outer lid
TSS Symphony of Chaos - wet lined
My impressions... colors are so much more vivid and alive. Previously I wouldn't have used either shade by themselves.. too dull and sheer... but with the JEP... WOW! I really didn't need any more colors.
Still waiting to see how the JEP performs in terms of long wearing but given the results today.. I'm a happy camper :D
here's a comparision from a previous look using similar colors. See the difference?
So many of the video tutorials or blogs that I've been reading have talked about using NYX Jumbo eye pencils in place of more expensive items like MAC paintpots... well, joined a local spree and bought two of them - oyster and pacific.
Finally got them last nite... :D and immediately did some swatches to see the colors...
Pacific = blue
Oyster = light purple
brown = Princessa Jumbo Eye Pencil in Golden Bronze
this is without primer -
So what are my impressions based on the swatches... well, NYX gave great color immediately on apply. Didn't take too many strokes to get the lovely vivid color you see in the first picture. Its rather blendable as is too... then it sets and gets harder to budge.
With a primer like Monsitat, it goes on very slippery, kinda slips and slides all over *but* I can see how it will help grip and hold any e/s piggies you put on top of it. Once primer and color is set though.. I was surprised to find I couldn't budge it with a dry tissue paper (no residue!) or a wet wipe. Had to use soap and water to get it off. I'm wondering if I'll get the same long lasting results on my eyes. :)
As for the solo Princessa color I tried... well, lets just say I'm not buying that again. Took quite a while to get the color intensity you see in the photos. I'm just not impressed. Plus I think I chose the wrong shade.. I don't like how goldy/bronze it is. :(
The plus point to this one is that its an automatic pencil. In other words, no sharpening needed. But on the other hand, if I want a sharper point, there's no way I can get it. So...
Gonna go try the shades on with e/s powder on top... have to find the time thought. :D
I'm wondering how many other ladies out there find that if their hair is a mess... they just aren't happy.
Its not just bad hair days.. but getting a hair cut that you just aren't happy with. Guess I'm just really fussy about my hair cuts.
Some background... Been with Leong, my hairdresser, for coming to 12 years now. He's expensive... that I'd be the first to admit. But... he gives me cuts that last (I kinda cut every 6 mths! lol) and cuts that suit my personality and lifestyle (no fuss, no bother). He's the type of hairdresser that does style shoots for magazines and is going on a movie set for the next 2 months. Pretty popular guy.
So then in April this year, he decides to leave Singapore and move to Sydney... got a haircut from him just before Chinese New Year so didn't get a trim before he left. Bad move on my part, cos my hair became rather unmanagable by June.
See... *please ignore the horrid eye bags... shudder*
Then mid last week, got a facebook message from Leong that he'd be available to cut hair on Friday/Saturday. Needless to say, I jumped at the opportunity. He told me later that he was surprised I hadn't messaged him back but then saw my appointment scheduled.
It was good to give my mop of hair into his capable hands. Couldn't fix the damage done so chopped it all off. It was funny to hear him complain about the uneven-ness of the cut and the fact there were way too many layers. LOL! He took a looong time fiddling with this and that before he was satisfied with the result.
End result, my mood has definitely perked straight up... even though I am fighting the flu... I feel so much more polished and less "auntish".
Did a straw poll with my kids... 2 out of 3 prefer my short do. My daughter keeps touching my hair and saying 'nice mummy'. My poor hubby... well, he'll have to live with my bob til I get it grown out again. Frankly, I think he's just happy that I'm happier.
So anyone else have moods that get affected by the state of their hair? would love to hear your stories.
k.. its early in the morning here... like 12.30am.. so wat am I doing up... hmmm
chatting with a gf on MSN... talking about haircuts and m/u... LOL!
so here's today's look... I finally got off my bum and put on some makeup.. after like 2 weeks.. go figure..
Face
SN's PP (white) + Date Bait
SN's foundation - my mix (11white, 1ebony, 1warmgold)
SN's Love Lure - on the bronzing areas
SN's Climax - blush
Lips - nothing... its too late and I'm too lazy to put something on... wat I did use today was SN's Sweetheart (one of my favs)
I put on the makeup at like 10am this morning. Went through the entire day with no touchups. Even forgot to use my oil blotting sheets (makes me wonder why I carry them around and makes me feel really old). Cried once today... that's a whole 'nother story.
Eyes - no liner/no mascara
Monistat - base
SN Cherub glow - all over lid
TSS Sizzle whip - outer lid and crease
SN Vanilla - highlight
sigh.. it won't let me put medium sized photos in... so you're stuck w large ones.. sorri

What were you doing ten years ago?
I was a customer service officer dealing with telephone enquiries about bank accounts at a int'l bank. I worked crazy shift hours with no regular off days. Loved the pay.. Loved the freedom to do stuff when everyone else was working. Really disliked the customers.
Had just linked back up with my ex-bf/now-hubby. Renewing the relationship and exploring the possibilities together.
Used little to no makeup at all. I think I only owned lipstick and blusher at that stage...
What are five things on your to-do list today?
- blog (m/u and personal)

- survive the 1st day back at school for my kids
Snacks you enjoy?
Chocolate anything! preserved plums, dried mango, popcorn, potato chips... the list is pretty endless :)
Places you've lived?
India; Calif/USA; Singapore
What are five things you would do if you were a billionaire?
- Pay off all our debts
- Bring my parents back for a visit to our old hunting grounds in Calif, USA
- Bring hubby on his long dreamed of Alaska cruise
- Save and invest wisely some amount so I can live off residual income
- Hire a full time housekeeper - I really really dislike picking up after my kids
People you want to know more about?

LOL!
Ever since I found TheSheSpace, I've really really enjoyed buying the oh-so affordable e/s samples that are sold. The colors are interesting and always turn up vibrantly while being easy to put on. Plus I get to pay much less than other brands and so maximise the amount of colors I get to play with while minimising the damage to my wallet. :)
Heather released some Limited Edition colors for June and with my usual eye to the budget, I chose to wait for more to be released before putting in an order... to my horror on Wednesday when I checked... they were GONE! *sob* There were also a new LE quad of colors that were going to be pulled the same day. *shudder* I like two of the 4 colors... so thought a very short while and decided to place an order. Tried to key in the June LE shades and was surprised when they were accepted. *happy dance*
To be sure, I dropped Heather a note via email to explain what I had done...
This is her reply..Hi Heather,
I noticed u pulled down the June LEs... I did soooo want them so I tried typing in the names and it was accepted. I'm not sure if you still have stock. *hoping hoping that you do!*
Do let me know... I know you're super busy.
thanks
Joanna
btw, the reason why I keep buying samples is that I don't use makeup tat often... and I do love to play with different colors... so I get samples to play with! and boy am I having loads and loads of fun! thanks so much for making it affordable! *hugs*

well, was just plain laz y about uploading photos to computer then uploading on to the net... no excuese...
anyways, after much bugging from various lovely friends, here's a sampling of my experiments over the past month. To be honest, haven't taken too my photos either. LOLZ.
Here are two from late May...
unfortunately, I didn't think of writing down wat I wore so.. I've no ideas what colors are on my eyes. Still I do like the brown look on the left and the slightly purple look on the right.
I'm a spectacle wearing gal, so the pic on the right was kinda to show why I tend to put on heavier/darker colors.
This look was done on June 5th...
Monistat
TSS Twisted Psyhic - whole lid
TSS Symphony of Chaos - outer lid
Moonlight Whimsey - highlight
Cheek - can't remember sorry
Lips - SN Berry Nice

sadly, didn't jot down the colors... I think it was TSS shadow of a doubt and TSS gothic glamour.. but honestly not sure..
well.. tat's it for now... still happily playing with all my colors.. especially since I just got a new haul recently. I'm up to about 50+ TSS e/s samples now. Why do I buy samples and not full sizes.. well, cos they cost less, I don't use that much and I'd rather have more colors to play with :)
Am eyeing the new limited editions from TSS as well as the 2 new colors... plus have a hankering for more SN PP... plus looking at NYX jumbo e/s pencils...
my poor poor wallet!
til next time... live life colorfully!
Was feeling soooo bored yesterday so decided to play with some colors.
I put Monistat as the primer - I love the difference it makes to my e/s colors. They seem to be more vibrant and alive when I have this as a base.
Next up was TSS Twisted Psychic on my entire lid. I wanted a slightly more purplish look so decided to layer TSS Risky Behaviour on top. Didn't get the result I was hoping for but seriously prefered this color to TP plain. LOL!
For my outer eye, I really wanted a darker purple.. so after looking through my collection and remembering that red + blue = purple. I chose to use TSS Lucifier's Chariot (a red that I really can't use, imo). Surprise Surprise... the result was a purple that I definitely can live with.
Liner was TSS Lucky Charm and highlighter was TSS moonlight whimsey.
Please excuse the red eyes... it was late when I finally remember to take a picture of my eyes. :P
Would love to hear your comments!
